Energy, Yes, But Please, No Greenhouse Gases!, Is Launched on Eastmain1.org

November 01, 2010

Montreal Agency multiple-media.com is happy to announce the launch of “Energy, Yes, But Please, No Greenhouse Gases!”, a medium-length documentary about a unique scientific endeavour, on www.Eastmain.org.

Energy, Yes But Please No Greenhouse Gases!

The 30-minute documentary film was directed by Renato Cudicio, founder and president of multiple-media.com, while Sophie Deraspe did the photography and the editing.

The film, which was shot in high definition over a six-year period for Hydro-Quebec, presents EM-1, an innovative study of unprecedented scope involving literally dozens of research scientists in several areas from McGill University, Université du Québec à Montréal, and Environnement illimité. Set in beautiful landscapes north of the 52nd parallel, the film presents scientists in the field–sometimes under extreme weather conditions–as well as the conclusions of their research, which clearly demonstrates that “the Eastmain 1 reservoir has little impact, in terms of the carbon cycle, on the watershed and the surrounding area,” as Alain Tremblay, Ph.D. and scientific adviser on the project, explains at the end of the film.

“At a time when climate change is a major challenge, this research is a world premiere and its results will inevitably draw attention from scientists throughout the world”, says Renato Cudicio. “Energy, Yes, But Please, No Greenhouse Gases!”, allows us to take part in this great scientific adventure.

The film is available online at Eastmain1.org, a website that multiple-media.com launched in 2008 with the support of Hydro-Quebec within the context of EM-1, a research project on greenhouse gases (GHGs). In less than three years, Eastmain1.org has become a reference on GHGs from hydroelectric reservoirs in the boreal region. With more than one hundred articles, posters and presentations; some fifteen fact sheets in layman’s terms, both in French and English; over fifty news updates on GHGs and the environment, also in both languages; field photographs and videos; and, dozens of references; the EM-1 project website has become an invaluable data source for Quebecers and for the scientific community.

multiple-media.com created the EM-1 project website three years ago, and the Web agency has regularly updated it since with news briefs about climate change. Eastmain1.org has very high search engine ranking and it represents a reliable reference for many websites that focus on GHGs and climate changes.

A “Carboneutral” certified company since 2008, multiple-media.com is happy to be a partner of the EM-1 project, which is in perfect keeping with its vision of sustainable development.
